An End-of-Year Note from Ms. Cook Frazier
On behalf of the entire Kilgour school faculty and staff, THANK YOU for your support in making Kilgour School one of the best elementary schools in Cincinnati and Ohio! We are currently preparing for the upcoming year and have great things in store, including expansion of the Mustang Mondays enrichment program to include Kindergarten, continuation of Engineering is Elementary, Partnership with the Playhouse in the Park, STEM-related activities for students, the PTA-sponsored iPad initiative (5 iPads in every classroom), Fitness and Wellness activities each quarter and possible foreign language offerings during the school day. Stay tuned for more information!
Last day of school
The last day of school is Wednesday, May 30. We will have a regular schedule, with students dismissed at 3:35 p.m. (K & 1st) or 3:45 p.m. (2nd-6th grades). Students will be provided their 4th quarter report card, as well as other key information in regards to activities for the summer and news about the upcoming year, including a copy of the tentative supply list for the upcoming school year.
Avoid the "Summer Gap"
Be sure to check your child's book bag for information on websites to prevent the "summer gap." Activities to keep students on track, such as the Cincinnati Library Summer Reading program and websites, such as Study Island (for current 3rd-6th grade students) are great tools to use!
Please note that creation of class lists is the responsibility of the building principal and teachers. Class lists will be made in compliance with our district guidelines, as well as other key factors based on academics, behavior, ethnicity, gender, etc. Consideration is made for siblings, however due to the multiple factors, class assignments are not guaranteed.
Additionally, no parent requests are confirmed. Extreme situations, which may include previous negative experiences for the family or teacher, may be made in writing, and heard and considered by the principal. However, this is not a guarantee.
Tentative class lists will be posted on the entrance area to the gym between August 17 and 20. The lists will be tentative because enrollment continues through the first week of school.
Moving away from Kilgour or transferring to another school?
If you know you are moving or transferring your child to another school for the 2012-2013 school year, please call Ms. Law at 513-363-3001 by June 4. She will need the name of the school your child will attend for the upcoming year, so records can be prepared.
2012-2013 staffing and boundary changes with the opening of Hyde Park Elementary
There have been questions in regards to staffing for the 2012-2013 school year, and as a result of the district budget, there will be changes for the upcoming year. Confirmation in regards to those changes are still in progress, and there is the possibility that some may not occur for the upcoming year. Additional information is forthcoming.
There have also been some questions in regards to recent changes with school boundaries as a result of the re-opening of Hyde Park School this upcoming school year. Please note, all students/families currently attending Kilgour ARE ABLE TO REMAIN AT KILGOUR SCHOOL despite the street changes for Hyde Park and Oakley. The Superintendent established a grandfather policy to allow those families attending Kilgour School the option to remain. If you have questions or would like additional clarification, please feel free to contact Ms. Cook Frazier at 513-363-3000 or
or our district ombudsperson, Mrs. Thomas, at our district Parent Center at 513-363-0123.
