October PTA Meeting
Our next monthly PTA meeting will be held on October 12 at 7:00 pm in the school library. We had a bountiful turnout at our September meeting, and look forward to seeing many faces again!
A note about PTA meeting child care
At our September meeting, we were a bit underprepared for the number of attendees who would need child care. In order to make sure that families with children of all ages feel comfortable attending, we are changing our child care service. In addition to our sixth grade sitters, for the October meeting, we will add one adult to the team who will focus on younger children. Keeping this adult as part of the child care team for future meetings will depend on the October turnout. So, we hope you will attend our October meeting and be assured that your children will be well taken care of.
Silent Auction Raffle
The 2011 Silent Auction Raffle will kick off at Kilgour's Open House. Look for the table at Open House to purchase your tickets. We have two awesome prizes this year--you don't want to miss out! First prize is a Sony PlayStation 3 system, which includes both a Blu-Ray player and gaming capabilities. Second prize is a Bose SoundDock Series II music player for your iPod. Winners will be selected at the Silent Auction on November 4. Not only can tickets be purchased at Open House, but you can also buy them when you R.S.V.P. for the Auction event. Ticket prices are 1 for $5, 5 for $10 and 20 for $20. Good luck everyone!
Silent Auction - Great Gatherings Hosts Needed
Great Gatherings include a number of parties that are hosted and paid for by Kilgour families and/or teachers. Big parties. Small parties. Parties for couples. For women. For men. For kids. Something for everyone! Planned parties are presented at the Silent Auction in November so Kilgour families can sign up and pay for the parties they would like to attend, with their entire donation going to Kilgour PTA.
Great Gatherings are a tremendous fundraiser for Kilgour and typically generate more than $20,000 per school year. If you are interested in hosting a Great Gathering or would like to learn more, please contact June Newman at 321-7977, Anne Terlesky at 623-1826 or e-mail
Kilgour Box Tops
Don't forget the end of the first quarter is fast approaching! Please make sure ALL your Box Tops are turned in to your child's teacher no later than October 14. We are looking forward to an awesome turn out of Box Tops. Look for a great incentive for the class that brings in the most Box Tops!
Kilgour Costume Shop
For the second year, the PTA will host the Kilgour Costume Shop. We will collect new and gently used costumes, which will be given to Kilgour students who do not have a costume on the day of the Costume Parade. We want ALL of our students to have the opportunity to participate in the costume fun as they wish. While we can use whatever you have, we especially need girl costume accessories (tiaras, etc.) and larger child costumes. Please send your costumes to school with your child in a bag labeled "Costume Donations" or place them in the labeled bins outside the front office. Thank you in advance for your generosity. If you have questions, please contact Julie Anne Baur at 321-9822 or
2011-2012 Recycling Program
Mr. Carlson, Kilgour's Recycle Program Coordinator, would like to thank everyone who contributed empty print cartridges and cell phones last school year. Because your help is vital to our fundraising success now more than ever, the campaign continues for the new school year.
Please drop off any used cell phones, inkjet or laser print cartridges during the Kilgour Open House. Please do not donate used toner cartridges. Look for the large white Funding Factory Recycle Box in the main hallway or bring your recycled cartridges and used cell phones to Room 1009, the Waterford lab, at the Primary end of the building. Your help is greatly appreciated!
Fall Soccer Photos Needed
Soccer coaches, please remember to take team photos for the Kilgour Yearbook. Please e-mail the team photos and any candids to Chrissie Carli at
Basketball/Pony League Signups
Basketball and Pony League signups for Kilgour students will begin during the Open House. Students can also register on Thursday, October 6 from 3:30-4:15 p.m. and Friday, October 7 from 8:45-9:30 a.m. in front of the Kilgour office. Basketball is open to all students in grades 3-6. With Basketball and Pony League signups fast approaching, we are looking for a few parent volunteers for the season.
