Room Parents, please log in to access restricted information like meeting agendas, schedules, class lists, and more amongst the articles below.
Room parents are a key part of the classroom environment. They assist in communications between Kilgour School and the parents of their child’s class. Specifically, they will assist in coordinating classroom parties and events, such as Halloween, The Holidays, Valentines, etc. In addition, the room parents assist the PTA in soliciting parent volunteers for several school events, such as COSI, Silent Auction, Spaghetti Dinner and the Carnival. They also help in the coordination and implementation of Teacher Appreciation Events throughout the year.
The responsibilities of a room parent are a yearlong task. Therefore, we ask that each room parent be willing to assist the PTA and school for the entire school year, from August through May. Since being a room parent is a time consuming task, we encourage at least two to three parents to sign up to help out with each classroom. This will kind of create a “team” of parents that will be lead by one parent volunteer, who will act as the contact person for that class. This person will be the one who receives all the e-mails from the room parent coordinators and the PTA, and can then disperse the information to their team members.
If you still have questions, please feel free to contact Tricia Barlow or Melissa Nelson via e-mail or phone. We will do our best to provide you with an answer to your question or give you the information you need.
