We are not over capacity in terms of building size. We are getting close to the lines of quality when it comes to adequate space for education. This is a subject for discussion at LSDMC. No students have been pulled off the waiting list and all questionable residencies are being checked. Kilgour once again rated as “Excellent”. New staff members are on board. Second grade is close to limits so there may be some movement in second grade but it will be accomplished with the least impact on students. CPS is the first urban school district in Ohio to ever meet the rating of “Effective”. Teachers’ Report – Terry Armstrong and Tracy Johnson Terry Armstrong thanked all for the Back to School Social and is happy to be here! Tracy Johnson has joined this year as a co-representative and thanked everyone for the new computers. New Business Today all teachers received a goodie bag with lots of clever items! Technology purchases - $25,000 in grant money was used to purchase 28 new I-MAC computers for 6th, 5th, and one 4th grade class. Technology Fees - The technology fee that was added this year to supply lists will be utilized to purchase additional computers. The fee has been collected from about 270 students to date. Families can also make donations directly to the technology fund. We will continue to pursue grants again this year. Proposal – There is an electronic process for making a proposal on the PTA web site. First Proposal – Ms. Houston is requesting compensation for an additional hand chime choir due to the large number of 5th graders expressing an interest in ringing (50 students). She is currently not being compensated for the first hand chime choir. Discussion occurred concerning the $400 standard fee and $200 supply fee for teacher coordinated clubs. Jennifer Rodes proposed that we go in line with what we pay Mr. Carlson and Ms. Norad and pay Ms. Houston $300 and charge the students $10.00 to be in alignment with our other clubs. Tracy Mason seconded the motion. Vote taken and motion passed. Second Proposal – Lori Ware proposed that the 6th grade help out the 5th grade with the annual cookie dough sale to replace the 6th grade bulb sale that was conducted last year. This would help meet the 396 unit sales requirement to avoid a $160 shipping change. Teachers are in favor of this. The 5th grade used money in the past to help pay for Camp Cambell Gard. Fifth grade is not going on this trip this year but will have a trip which has not yet been determined. Motion - Judy Neff, Second – Karen Raifstanger. Vote taken and motion passed.
