PTA Meeting Minutes - September 28, 2010 (All School) PDF Print E-mail

Attendees: General all school meeting.

  1. Meeting Opening – A motion was made to open the meeting (Motion – Lori Raser, Second – Kristen Bickel).

    1. Ms. Cook welcomed everyone to open house and the meeting.


  1. President’s Announcements – Jenny Workum

    1. Reminded all that the PTA meets the first Wednesday of the month at 7:00 pm in the library and childcare is provided.

    2. Thanks to everyone for participating in the Entertainment Book sales.

    3. We were able to purchase 28 IMAC computers through 3 grants totaling $25,000.

    4. $25 technology fee added to the class supply lists will continue to support the purchase of computers.

    5. 7500 boxtops were collected over the summer to support our school. Check http://www.boxtops4education.com/ for more ways to benefit our school including shopping the boxtops marketplace where 1.5% to 8% of your purchase comes back to Kilgour.

    7. Some of the items funded by the PTA are:

      1. $28,000 goes to support for teachers and staff for classroom essentials not provided by the district.

      2. Field trip buses

      3. Alumni scholarship

      4. Duplicator machine and supplies

      5. Building and grounds

      6. Assemblies

      7. COSI

      8. Technology


  1. Treasurer’s Report

    1. Budget was distributed. (Motion to approve – Laura Deck – Second - Lori Raser). Vote was taken and budget was approved.


  1. President –Elect – Dave Shirey

    1. The Silent Auction, major fundraiser of the year, is November 19, 2010 at the Redmoor. The raffle first prize is an IPAD and second prize is a Ground Force Drifter. Invitations are going out next week.


  1. Question – What is the difference between PTA and LSDMC

    1. Ms. Cook states that PTA is made up of parents and teachers assisting the school and LSDMC (Local School Decision Making Committee) is made up of parents, staff, and community and deals with capital funds, principal selection, and items that have a large school wide or community impact.

    1. The next PTA meeting is October 6, 2010 at 7:00 pm in the school library.

    2. A motion was made to close the meeting by Aronda Rodgers – Seconded by Stephanie Bisher.
