Kilgour parent Lauren Woods has offered to help spearhead organizing this effort. Also we were reminded that we have a paper recycler in the parking lot. Motion passed. Mark Severin proposed that we approach organizations/companies/people to sponsor events such as COSI, Harvest Jam, Winter Concert, Yearbook, Memory Book, Great Gatherings, etc. Anyone chairing an event who wanted to pursue sponsorship would contact Mark. Mark mentioned that we would not be soliciting families for these sponsorships. Jennifer Rodes mentioned that we have $90,000 in the treasury which we should probably earmark for something. Jenny Workum stated that maybe we need a second proposal to propose that a certain percentage each year is earmarked for certain needs. Discussion to continue in November on earmarking funds for specific needs. Motion to approve on the sponsorship proposal - Mark Severin, Second - Lori Raser. Passed with one member abstaining. Velda Coley proposed an on-going fundraising opportunity to provide financial stability through Shaklee. Skaklee is the #1 nutritional company and conducts over 80,000 quality tests annually on their products. Shaklee leads the environmental movement by example – no toxins in products. There would be no cost to the PTA for this fundraiser as people can purchase directly from the Shaklee on-line store with products delivered to the customer’s home with 16% to 30% going back to Kilgour. To get started the PTA would fill out an application, set up a website using a template and then direct people to the website. Jenny Workum suggested that the PTA board check out the website (www.Shaklee.com) to gauge interest and estimate return and then vote at the November meeting. Old Business A Kilgour family had a home fire and needs assistance. Motion to purchase a $499 Walmart gift card was made by Laura Deck, seconded by Lori Raser. The motion was voted and passed.
