c.    A committee has been formed as a result of last month’s proposal to encumber money for specific purposes.

d.   Continuing with plans to replace computers.  4th grade should be complete by the end of the calendar year. Tech fees are still coming.  Grant writer is working again this year.

e.   Discussion continued from last meeting on the Shaklee proposal.  Several parents had reviewed the web site.  Velda Coley said that she could bring in some products to display, one-time shopping with automatic shipping is available, and has information on the health benefits of the products.  A separate idea to have a Kilgour Marketplace with an on-line directory of services/products offered by Kilgour families/supporters with a possible kickback to Kilgour could be a solution to implementing the Shaklee fundraising proposal and reduce some of the concerns about the number of times we go out to our families for various fundraisers.   Another concern with the Shaklee proposal is that we are creating another position within PTA that we are going to have to staff to develop and maintain the Shaklee web page for the fundraiser.   There was concern that even if we tried this for a short time we have already done the ask for another fundraiser and we cannot take that back. On the global level we need to make a decision on what we are going to do with any fundraising ideas from parents. Stress that do not bring an idea to the PTA unless you have a plan and personnel already identified to implement the plan. Next steps: Waiting for additional information from Velda including a scenario on possible returns and additional information on the manpower required to set up and run the fundraiser. It was also noted that this may be difficult to roll out in the middle of the year.

f.     Julie Anne Bauer reported on the costume drive.  10 kids came in to get costumes and were very excited.  Teachers were appreciative.  Mark Severin will store the costumes. Bins will be put out next week to collect more costumes and accessories.  If we have extra costumes we may be able to donate the overflow to another school.  Thanks to Julie Anne for organizing the Costume Shop.
