Waterford Lab: Kindergarten, first and second grade students visit the lab for 20 minutes each day. The children learn technology and language arts skills. Mr. Chris Carlson coordinates this program; parent and community volunteers help make this a successful program. Call Mr. Carlson at 363-3064 if you are interested in helping.

Library / Resource Center: Each classroom is assigned a weekly visit to the Library / Resource Center with Kilgour's Librarian, Ms. Patricia Wallace. The children typically hear a story and then are allowed to choose and sign-out a book for a week. They are to return the book during their visit the following week.

Music: Each classroom is assigned weekly music instruction by Ms. Billie Houston.

Art: Each classroom is assigned weekly art instruction with Ms. Darlene Nored.

Physical Education: Each classroom is assigned weekly Physical Education with Mr. Bill Kennedy. Your child should wear gym shoes and appropriate clothing to school on his/her scheduled class day. 2nd – 6th graders are required to wear shorts.

Everybody Counts: Everybody Counts is an annual program offered to students in all grades. It is presented by trained parent volunteers whose goal is to teach students understanding and tolerance of those living with disabilities.

Growing Up Class: Presented to boys and girls grade 4-6. This program provides instruction addressing the physical and emotional changes of puberty. Detailed information will be sent home prior to the class.

Fine Arts Programming: Each year, PTA sponsors programs for quarterly assemblies that bring the arts into our school. COSI on Wheels brings their traveling exhibit to Kilgour each year compliments of the PTA.

Student Council: Student council officers are elected in grades 3-6 by their homeroom classmates. Student council representatives meet once a month and sponsor school-wide special days and participate in school improvements.

Safety Patrol/Conflict Managers: Fifth and sixth grade students are trained as peer mediators in the strategies of conflict management to help resolve difficulties between students. These students also serve as the safety patrol on the school grounds before and after school.

Kindergarten Helpers & Lunchroom Helpers: Older students are given the opportunity to volunteer to assist the teachers in supervising the Kindergarten students in the lunchroom and on the playground, or to assist in the lunchroom duties. These volunteer opportunities for students provide a positive mentoring program and lessons in responsibility and cooperation.

Mustang Savings/PNC Bank: For more than a decade, Kilgour’s Partner-In-Education is PNC Bank. In addition to many other ways in which PNC Bank helps support out school (such as paying for the printing of this directory), they have given students the opportunity to open a savings account at the school. Check the Synopsis for details regarding when the Kilgour PNC branch will be open.
