2015 Kilgour CarnivalThe Kilgour PTA will host the 2015 Kilgour Carnival - a major fundraiser for Kilgour School on Saturday, May 16th from 11:00 AM - 5:00 PM on the Kilgour School Grounds. The highly anticipated family event will have a schedule of exciting and fun activities to celebrate our year and support our excellent school! Games, rides, raffles, prizes, food, bake sale, flower sale, and party sign-ups (known as our Great Gatherings) are just a few of the exciting reasons to participate in the weekend activities. Previous carnival proceeds have helped contribute iPads for every classroom, the Mustang Monday Enrichment Program, field trip transportation, Center for Science & Industry (COSI) Fair, teacher classroom materials, the Holiday Giving Tree, and many other programs which provide the necessary tools to strengthen the educational environment for our students. Bake Sale

Channel you inner Pinterest and make a contribution to the Bake Sale!  Drop off your homemade treats in the school office anytime on Friday, May 15th or by 10:45 AM on Saturday, May 16th in the 2nd/3rd Grade breezeway.  Please try to bring individually wrapped items of cookies, cupcakes, muffins, donuts or any delicious treat.  The nicer they are packaged, the better they sell!  For more information, contact Leigh Grause ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Basket Raffle

The Basket Raffle drawing is a Kilgour tradition in which various homerooms join efforts to create gift baskets to raffle at the Carnival. As a result of generous contributions by Kilgour families, about a dozen incredible baskets are produced and available to win! Please consider making a contribution to your child’s basket theme and submitting your donation by Monday, May 4th. Bins are available outside all classrooms to place your contributions. Game & Ride Tickets

Over 30 fantastic games and rides are available for play at the Carnival! Tickets are $0.50 each and can be purchased at the carnival Ticket Booth or in advance on 5/11-5/13 from 3:30-4:00 PM in the front of the school. Great Gatherings

Several fantastic and fun-themed Great Gathering parties continue to take place into the summer and fall months! The events will be announced and tickets can be purchased on a first some first serve basis at the carnival. If spots are available, remaining tickets can be purchased online at the Great Gatherings webpage.  If you are interested in hosting a party, please contact the Great Gatherings committee by Friday, May 1st. Raffle

The annual student Raffle drive is an exciting event for our students with opportunities for them to win incredible incentives! All students are asked to sell 60 tickets to their family, friends and neighbors and submit their sales every Thursday from 4/9 - 5/14 and Tuesday 5/12. Ticket prices are 1 for $1 or 3 for $2 with an opportunity to win the Grand Prize of $500, 2nd prize of $250 or 3rd prize of $100.  There are several ways for students to win incentives:

 

  • For the first $60 sold, a student will receive a 2015 Kilgour Carnival T-Shirt.
  • Each week, the top sellers of each grade will win 10 games & rides tickets.
  • The classes in each grade with the greatest number of 2015 Kilgour Carnival T-Shirts will win a Popsicle Party!
  • Top students sellers will get a chance to win one of the following prizes: GOPRO Hero3+, iPad Retina, Lego Mindstorms Robot set, Lego Architect set, Sphero or a Kindle Fire Tablet.  
  • Each student that has sold at least $250 of raffle tickets by May 7th will be entered in a drawing to win a Razor Motorized Scooter!

Sponsorships

We are asking Kilgour families, friend and community members to please consider sponsoring a booth or port-o-let at the carnival!  Sponsor a booth for $200 and/or Port-o-let for $100 on behalf of your family or join other families to sponsor together.  Please print the 2015 Carnival & 5K Sponsorship Application below and submit the application by Friday, May 1st to the Sponsorship Committee.  For more information, please contact Tenney Verkamp ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Volunteers

The carnival would not be a success without the help of our parents and community volunteers!  Volunteers are needed in three major portions of the weekend.  Please use the email and link below to sign-up on Friday and/or Saturday:

    • Set-Up (9:15 AM – 3:30 PM)12 volunteers are needed to set up booths, tables, hang signs and prep the gym.
    • Booths (10:45 AM – 5:30 PM)Traditionally, each homeroom is assigned a booth to run at the carnival. To ensure no one misses a chance to play, we need two (2) parents for every 1 hour shift. Parents working the last shift are asked to stay an extra 20 minutes to help tear down booths. Any parent or family that works 2+ hours will receive Game & Ride Ticket incentives!If dad works one class booth and mom works another, there is more games and bounce house fun for the entire family!
      • At least 2 hours = 5 game & ride tickets
      • At least 4 hours = 10 game & ride tickets
      • At least 6 hours = 15 game & ride tickets
    • Tear Down (5:00 – 6:00 PM)We can always use extra hands to help tear down the carnival. Each year we are usually done in record time when everyone pitches in. Please consider sticking around to lend a hand.

Kilgour Sports Boosters 5K

On Friday, May 15th at 7:00 PM, the Kilgour Sports Boosters will host the annual 5K and Kid Run!  Run or walk the 3.1 mile course in our neighborhood or have your child participate in the shorter kids' course.  To register and for more information, visit www.kilgoursports.org.
